The Chinese cargo ship Fu Shan Hai
sank off the coast of the Danish Baltic Sea island of Bornholm on June
31, 2003 following a series of explosions. The ship, which was carrying
60 000 tonnes of artificial fertilizer sprang a leak on Saturday following
a collision with the Cypriot-registered cargo ship “Gdynia”
and was abandoned by all 27 crew members. |

The crew were brought to safety in lifeboats. On June 3, 2003, oil leaked out and reached the Swedish coast. |
